Drop-in Center

Mary’s Shelter has joined forces with the Berks County Intermediate Unit, Education for Children and Youth Experiencing Homelessness (ECYEH) and the Berks Coalition to End Homelessness Youth Committee to find and initiate solutions to the number of homeless and runaway youth in Berks County. The YESS (Youth Empowerment Support Services) Residential Program and Drop-in-Center addresses the immediate needs of young people living on the streets.

This is only the beginning! The community is committed to working together, building resources and strengthening partnerships which will change young lives. We are providing compassion, direction and hope at a critical time in their lives.

  • Available after school for youth from ages 14-22
  • From 3:30-6:30, Monday through Friday
  • Brookline (Barta route 10) stops right in front of our location for easy access
  • Offers many of the same services and features available to our residential clients
  • We have a laundry room, gym equipment, recreational activities, a full kitchen, a computer lab for school/job/recreational activities
  • Tutoring through BCIU on Thursdays at 4:30
  • Referral to outside services if need
  • If within the age range, may also be able to utilize residential services

Mary’s Shelter supports families in the community and works to prevent homelessness
through housing, education and social service programs.
