Get to Know the Staff

Heidi Anderson (left) and Jessica Crawford (Right) are Case Managers at Mary’s Shelter. Heidi is a Berks County native who has worked with Mary’s Shelter for 13 years. Jessica moved to Berks County with her family in 2002 and has worked with Mary’s Shelter for 8 years. They provide guidance and supportive services to the young mothers living at our facility on Kenhorst Blvd. and oversee the Community Out-reach and Diaper Bank Services to over 1000 low-income families from our community. “What I like most about my job is working directly with the young women and their children; we really get to know them” said Heidi. Jess agreed, adding “They are teaching us as much as we teach them. When we hear about an obstacle or struggle they are having; we look for resources from the community to help them.”

Nancy Hobaugh (left) and Sue Shultz (right) are the newest employees hired at Mary’s Shelter a year and a half ago. Nancy is married and as two sons, Philip and Steven. She volunteered a lot at their school when the boys were young, in addition to volunteering at other community agencies. Sue is a widow with two grown children Crissy and Kirk, who live out of the state. She retired from running her own business but wanted to keep busy, so she joined the Mary’s Shelter team. Together Sue and Nancy work with the volunteers and man the front desk at our new location on Kenhorst Blvd. If you are interested in volunteering or just want a quick tour of the facility, feel free to contact Sue or Nancy at 610-376-1973.
